Fitness Note
Here’s a bit of human body trivia for you this month: Did you know that between the ages of 50 and 55 humans experience a distinct loss in height as discs between the vertebrae of your spine compress and actually shrink? You may have spinal degeneration and not even know it. The progression of aging and its effects on how we function differ widely among individuals. Over the course of time, the normal aging tissue causes changes to the anatomy. This is especially true in degenerative changes of the spine. In most people, these changes are gradual. In fact, many people have degenerative changes and don’t know it. They may only become aware of these changes when being examined during a routine check-up.

The combination of lack of physical activity and poor diet is the second largest underlying cause of death in the United States (after smoking). Regular exercise can improve some diseases and disabilities in older people who have already been diagnosed. The best way to keep your spine, and the rest of your body, healthy and fit is by stretching and exercising regularly. Join us for a Pilates or Yoga this month, it's is a simple way to being productive! For a full schedule of classes click: Fitness Classes
